Car Safety for Children
Motor vehicle accidents are the leading cause of death for children 2 to 14 years old.
That’s why the doctors at the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress recommend all children under the age of 13 ride in the back seat and ensure that they are properly fastened to prevent neck and back injury.
Other guidelines include:
- For infants and up to a year old or 20 pounds -- use rear-facing infant seats.
- Up to age four or 40 pounds -- use forward facing toddler seats.
- Children age four through eight also need booster seats.
